Samanta A122 Aurora (Claret)

Samanta A122 Aurora (Claret)

Samanta A122 Aurora

Samanta is a mid-priced Polish brand that is frequently available to US customers discounted on Zulily. I’ve been dying to try them ever since the lovely Sophie from 2 Cakes on a plate started her Sunday with Samanta series. Samanta has a variety of constructions that are differentiated by their letter codes. There’s a lovely guide available about the different styles on Miss Underpinnings. In this review, I’ll be talking about the A122 cut, which is a deep 3-part cup with average wire width and side support wings. Unfortunately, this style runs very large in my size range (I ordered EU65F/UK30E) and so it does not fit me. It was so gorgeous though that I decided to review it anyways. In some pictures I am wearing removable cookies to give a better idea of what the bra would look like on breasts that filled it.

Aurora in the claret color way has some stunning embroidery. It’s one of those bras that gets more and more gorgeous the more you look at it. The mesh on the cups is very soft, and I feel that the quality of this bra is very good for the price. Arghhh… I wish I had ordered the correct size! On a note about sizing, I directly converted my UK size to an EU size, but if you are in my size range I would suggest converting your size and then sizing down a cup.

What a heartbreaker! I definitely need to own this bra in my size eventually. The cups are very projected overall, but they are slightly more shallow towards the center gore. Those with a large amount of inner fullness/center projection may not be compatible with this style. The wires are slightly wider than I prefer, and they are quite flexible so they may pull even wider if you have a tight (or even fitting band). The cups are 5.1 inches (12.54 cm) wide and 9.6 inches (24.38 cm) deep. This is clearly not in line with a typical 30E at all, and is much more like a UK 30F. The gore is narrow and fairly average height for a balconette at 2.5 inches (6.35 cm). There is a lovely gold S charm at the center gore. I’m in love with the burgundy lace at the bottom of the bra. It’s absolutely gorgeous and is continued along the entire band!

I believe this bra would give a rounded and projected shape in the correct cup volume for me. It looks to be best for an even shape overall, and the way the cup fits reminds me of the Cleo Lily. I personally don’t find that side support panels tend to do much for me, but if you like them they’re here! One detail I really love about this bra is that the straps are convertible! You can make them Racerback easily, and you could wear this bra with clear or fashion straps.

So as you can see, the band on this bra is huge on me. That’s pretty much to be expected of a 65/30 band on a 24 inch ribcage. The band on this runs on the tighter side of true to size at 29.5 inches (74.93 cm) when stretched. The fabric of the band is very soft and very stretchy overall, and I love how the straps are set in narrowly to make the bra easier to wear with tank tops (and keep the straps on my shoulders). I’m also a huge fan of how the embroider continues onto the back of the band. Too many bras end all of their design details on the sides!

Overall, I would absolutely try Samanta again in a more appropriate size. Their bras are very suitable for projected shapes and there is a strong eye for detail in the design. The materials are all soft and comfortable, and I could see this bra being a favorite if I ever manage to acquire it in my size! I would recommend that women in my size range size down in this style because it does run large!
