Uye Surana Claire: Perfect Full-bust Bralette

Uye Surana Claire: Perfect Full-bust Bralette
Uye Surana Claire

Hi Everyone!

This week I’m reviewing a new favorite: Uye Surana’s Claire wrap-around bralette and matching Claire Cross Back Panty. Uye Surana is a luxury brand that’s made locally in NYC. They do bra-sized bralettes in a fairly large standard range encompassing 30A-G (in US sizing) and sister sizes from 28-38 bands. Luckily for me, they also do custom sizes free of charge. To order a custom size, simply select the “custom size” option on their site and send an email to info@uyesurana.com to make sure that your size is available. I ordered the Claire Bralette in a US 26G (so UK 26F) with an XS in the Cross Back panty both in Infinite Black.

So, the Claire bralette has quickly become an every-day favorite for me. It strikes the perfect balance between luxurious, comfortable, and beautiful. I love the eyelash lace, smooth silk, and floaty chiffon. I chose the size (US 26G) based on advice from Uye Surana, and I’m glad that I took their advice. I would generally wear a US 26H, but this is definitely the right size for me in this style, so you may wish to size down in the cups on this one. The cups are fairly tall are are quite close together, which is perfect for me. This bralette is quite structured, and I feel very supported in it. I’ve worn it a ridiculous amount since buying it, which may become a problem because I’m honestly not sure how to wash silk. (Yes, I’m a terrible lingerie blogger)

Regardless of whether it’s going out as a trend, I will always love the strappy style. So, obviously I’m a far of the wrap around design here. It’s possible I’ve worn this bralette around as outerwear a bit too much for my very suburban neighborhood. Sorry, not sorry :p. Overall, this bralette is incredibly soft and comfortable, but it does use side boning to keep the structure of the wrap details. It’s a fairly hard piece of boning, so if you’ve got sensory issues or skin that doesn’t play nicely with underwires, you may want to look into a different style. Also, for those with wide-rooted breasts, the boning may end up sitting on breast tissue. This design is definitely made for a more narrow-rooted and projected breast shape. I personally like the boning, because it keeps everything in place. There’s no underwire used here, but there is a hard seam curving under the cups that acts in its place. Again, if you have very sensitive skin you may find that it chafes, but for me it improves the fit of the bralette.

So, here you can see the shape the Claire is giving. It’s pretty minimized, and doesn’t give a ton of life. To be honest, I’m completely find with that during the summer. Makes it easier to avoid the dreaded “Boob Tent” effect! 🙂 I don’t expect bralettes to give the same amount of support as a bra, and I’m really just impressed that this one keeps my boobs relatively locked in place. As I said earlier, this design is probably optimal for those with narrow and projected breasts. Treating the curved seam as the underwire, the cups are 4.5 inches (11.43 cm) wide and 8.5 inches (21.6 cm) deep. It’s possible that the cups would stretch to accommodate different shapes, because there isn’t an underwire. My guess is thought that shallow shapes aren’t likely to do well in this one.

Sigh, how lovely is this set? I’m completely addicted to black lingerie, and I love the cup of both pieces. The Cross-Back panties I unfortunately ordered before I gained weight recently. I still like them a lot, but I do have a minor heart attack every time I put them on. Don’t want to break something so lovely! Construction on both pieces is very nice, but there are a few loose threads and such. It’s not completely flawless, but there are no functional issues or even large aesthetic ones. Overall, I’m quite impressed with the quality of the garments.

So here is actually one of the best pictures to see the “underwire seam” on the cups. You can also see that the eyelash lace on both the bra and panties stands away a bit. This is absolutely not a seamless set, and you’re not going to want to wear it over thin, tightly fitting clothing. This is a set made to show off! 🙂 The panties, as I mentioned earlier are a bit small for me (but still wearable). My hips at the moment are around 36 inches (91 cm), and the XS is made for hips around 32 inches (81 cm). So, I’m honestly surprised that they work as well as they do.

It’s a rare set that looks as nice from the back as it does from the front, but boy does Claire deliver! I absolutely adore the back of the bralette, and it’s perfect to show off underneath low back tops. The straps are thin at 0.25 of an inch (0.6 cm), which I love for summer. Full bust bra straps are the bane of my existence during strappy top season! The straps are most of the way adjustable, so they should work for a variety of body types. The band is cut slanting upwards (it’s not riding up, I promise) and stretches exactly to 26 inches (66 cm). So it’s perfectly true to size there. The closure is a standard 2×3 one, which is fairly rare to see on a bralette. As far as the panty goes, I adore the high cut of the back! That’s definitely a trend that I’m happy to see in lingerie 🙂

This bralette has become a major part of my summer wardrobe! I sort of want one in every color 🙂 It’s the perfect height to poke out of my tank tops and make a statement, and I’m thrilled to have found a way to make the bralette trend accessible to those of us with weird bra sizes.

Overall, I highly recommend Uye Surana for supportive, bra-sized bralettes outside of matrix sizes. Both pieces in the Claire set are beautiful, comfortable, and luxurious. I will definitely be a repeat customer! 🙂 It won’t be long before I lose my battle to their beautiful new collection.

Have any of you tried out Uye Surana? Do you have a favorite place for bra-sized bralettes?
